No offense to the summer months, but we’re just going to say it: fashion choices are objectively better in winter.

Over the past few weeks in Australia we’ve been able to dig out our favourite boots, jeans, and jumpers, and we’re definitely feeling all the more comfy and cosy for it.

However, we did spend the last two winters mostly in lockdown, working from our houses in trackies and socks, so our wardrobes might be a tad under-prepared for the oncoming colder commute to work, or weekend days spent bundling up before we take on our daily errands.

Luckily, we’re pulling together our favourite jackets for the season, particularly those with a bit of fleece lining to keep you extra protected.

On sale? Yes please! This jacket has a sherpa collar rather than a fleece inset, but it looks super warm and comfy all the same. The military green tone is also something that can be easily matched, whether you're after a smart-casual work outfit, or hoping to warm up something a little shorter for a night of drinks and dinner!

Fluffy Yarn Fleece Full-Zip Jacket, $39.90, from UNIQLO

Featuring super warm and furry fleece, this affordable UNIQLO jacket will keep you warm all winter. While it’s more of a casual style, we still very much encourage wearing it to work in the morning – maybe if you opt for a black or neutral colour. However, it also comes in shades of pink, green, and blue – the matching opportunities are endless!

Fleecey items can sometimes be a little pricey, so from this point onwards we’re tending toward options that are a tad expensive. However, these jackets will keep you warm for years – so are definitely worth the investment! This simple black bomber is the perfect overcoat – keep it hanging beside your doorway to throw on with almost any outfit, whether you’re headed to school pick-up, a work meeting, or ducking to the store, this can be made both casual and classy.

In our humble winter-loving opinion, this jacket looks and feels like wearing a cloud. The soft fleece material will wrap you up in a fashionable hug, while the length will ensure your neck, chest, and stomach are all kept nice and warm. It’s also reversible – two looks for the price of one? Don’t mind if we do!

Supre Sienna Aviator Jacket, $100, from The Iconic

Just like us, we’re sure it’s been a few years since you trawled through the racks at Supre. But we must say we love this stylish faux-leather jacket in its soft taupe tone, with a dramatic fleece collar and matching belt to boot. We can see this styled with sleek black pants and some boots for a casual yet smart day in the office.

Kenny Baggy Denim Borg Jacket, $119.95, from General Pants

The fact that we were donning our mother’s fleece-lined denim jackets as children goes to show that borg coats like this one are absolutely timeless, and totally worth the money. Denim jackets never go out of style, so why not grab one with a bit of fleece for some extra winter warmth?

While it is at the highest price point on our list, this jacket will last you a lifetime. We love that the sandy tone will match most things – you can set it against denim jeans, a patterned skirt, or even a jewel-toned top and remain on-trend for years to come. Also, this looks like the snuggliest piece of clothing – we’re obsessed with the soft material and big, deep pockets for keeping your fingers nice and toasty!
